Personal & Business Resilience in Times of Crisis

Personal & Business Resilience in Times of Crisis

This week we focus on resilience-enhancing behaviours that support Personal & Business Resilience in Times of Crisis. We wanted to share these particularly in light of the pandemic Covid-19 Coronavirus. These are evidence-based activities that can benefit everyone physically, mentally and spiritually, and are principles we have found beneficial in our own lives.

Click on the video below to watch

The first of these is practicing gratitude. This can take the form, of setting aside time (a few minutes is enough) each day to reflect on a few things for which we’re thankful. And some research suggests that if we include in our lists social activities or something about relationships, the benefit is even greater. Our family tries to do this together every night before bedtime: each of us names three things we’re grateful for that happened in the past 24 hours. It shifts the focus from negative to positive and helps create perspective.

The second resilience-enhancing activity is engaging in daily physical exercise. You might first think of running or swimming, strenuous exercise, which is great but not always feasible. Walking, going up and down the stairs, lifting weights, and just moving about rather than sitting at our desks for hours on end also contribute to a healthier body, mind, and spirit. We would caution against intensive exercise at this time (you know what intense is for you) as this can lead to a reduced immunity.

Thirdly, and equally important, is eating a healthy diet. It’s not always easy to eat right in times of crisis especially if we’re eating ‘on the go’ but if we plan our meals in advance we can choose and prepare nutritious foods, rather than default to quick fix sugary foods in the moment. It does our bodies tremendous good to eat the rainbow foods (foods of different colours) every day, so plan for a rainbow meal each day.

Fourthly, one of the best boosts to our immunity is free, its an activity called sleep. Now exercise and diet can help with the promotion and onset of this, but it’s important you make specific time for quality sleep as a lack of sleep will reduce your immunity. Now we have young kids and are often up in the night with them so understand we can’t always get that perfect night, however put a schedule in place for you and your family to ensure you give yourselves the best opportunity for collective sleep. Just as you set a guard and boundaries around your cash, set a guard and some boundaries around your sleep – the reality is, it’s more valuable.

Another very useful way to build resilience is to develop competence (the skills you need to do your job) and confidence (the knowledge that you can do it). At Digi Life Enabled, we’re committed to providing educational programmes and mentoring to enable you to develop confidence and competence in online digital skills.

If you haven’t already, then check out some of our free video series to get you started by clicking here, or if you have started, and you’d like some 1-2-1 tutorials, then drop us a line at info@digilifeenabled.com to arrange a free call with us.

In conclusion, one of the best-documented ways to enhance our resilience is to build and use social support. This means finding people in your personal and professional life whom you can talk to about what’s important to you (emotional support) and whom you can ask for help when you need it (instrumental support). We can do this through Skype, Facebook or other social media outlets, or good old phone, written, or in-person contact. Again, it’s been our pleasure to work through a number of work-life issues with our members and we want to reiterate drop us a line at info@digilifeenabled.com if you’d like to schedule a call with us at this time of crisis.

We also want to encourage our members to watch out for vulnerable members of their own communities. The elderly are some of the most vulnerable at this time, many are alone, and many don’t have ‘social media’ accounts to keep abreast of the latest developments or purchase things online. So think what you can do to check in and monitor those individuals at this time, as many will feel the isolation even more at this time.

Finally friends, we wish health and prosperity in the weeks ahead to you and those dear to you.

What Is Your Business About?

What Is Your Business About?

I find so many in business are unsatisfied with simply selling ‘stuff’.

Sure, we need to sell ‘stuff’ to keep the bread on the table, but what if there was more to business, more to life, than just selling ‘stuff’?

What if our business, what if our life, was about living out our values so as to make a difference in this world while at the same time providing for those we are responsible for?

One of the reasons we sign post people to the business start up programmes at SFM is because, having been through the system ourselves, and having met with the founders and lead team, we’ve seen it’s not about getting people to sell stuff.

Sure, there are some ready made resources for newbies starting out with to sell if they choose to, and as newbies we found that really helpful as we had nothing to sell, but it’s not about that.

The core of the SFM programme is about helping people understand their Vision, Mission, Purpose and Values, so they can become the best version of themselves in business and in life whether they choose to sell SFM stuff or not.

There’s very few programmes that offer that support.

Take SFM student, Rob Sewell as an example. I shared something of Rob’s transformation from Drug & Alcohol abuse to six figure business owner here:

In going through the SFM programme Rob now appreciates:

1. The impact of speaking truth & empowering others
2. The hardships he’s overcome and how they’ve helped him find his true purpose
3. How the experiences you go through forge your values
4. How he’s stepped into his purpose and launched his own coaching business

Rob now seeks to serve others by acting as a guiding light that shows people a space where they feel safe and understood.

Rob’s Vision, Mission, Purpose & Values

And while no income is guaranteed by any programme, after pinpointing his purpose with SFM, Rob’s income through his online business is such that it allows him the financial freedom to take each Friday off to volunteer with those who are struggling with drug and alcohol abuse, and given him the time freedom he so longed for with his family that his corporate job never gave him.

So, in the week ahead, perhaps you can reflect on what your business is about and whether it’s aligned to your true purpose?

Let Wisdom Be Your Guide

Let Wisdom Be Your Guide

So, what does heading off into the Mountains and starting an Online Business have in Common?

In this video I share how you need the wisdom of navigational skills to safely guide you from A to B in both a mountain and digital landscape.

Click here or on the image below to watch this week’s video:

Finding Your Path…

If you don’t have the necessary navigational skills, then you could be at risk of getting lost, injured or worse in both landscapes.

Jordan Romero was on 13 when he climbed Everest.

Take Mount Everest as an example, did you realise the youngest person to climb Everest, Jordan Romero was only 13 years old when he reached the top?

That doesn’t mean of course, any 13 year old can just take themselves up Mount Everest, Jordan was closely guided.

Everyone will climb Mount Everest differently, and how you plan your climb will broadly come down to to the three factors of Time, Cost, and Experience.

For example, if you already have the Time for planning, and past mountaineering Experience, you could plan your own route and complete the expedition yourself for a relatively low Cost financial budget. However, if you don’t have the past Experience, it would take you years in Time to plan the trip by yourself. In such a case you’d be better paying for a Mountain Guide who’s already walked the trail and knows the exact path and weather conditions to walk with you. That will involve more financial Cost, but involve less Time cost and Experience cost for you. Either way, there’s a cost to getting up and down Mount Everest safely, and each climber has to decide the best option for them.

Navigating The Digital Landscape

Likewise in the online business world, it’s a Mountainous landscape where some people don’t reach it to their summit, but at the same time, we have people like 10 year old Hannah Grace running a successful online business.

Hannah was challenged by her father to create the same products she loved from her favourite health and beauty stores, Hannah Grace started what would become her own bath bomb business called BeYOUtiful.

Hannah donates 20% of every purchase to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund, as she was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when she was an infant.

Hannah Grace was 10 years old when she started her online business

Did Hannah start her online business by walking off into the digital landscape by herself?

No, she had guides and mentors to help her navigate to a destination that was aligned to her purpose, combining that which she loved, with that which the world needed, along with that which the world would pay for.

At Digi Life Enabled, we call that a business that’s aligned to your purpose and the reason why we established Digi Life Enabled was to enable people like you who were wanting to start off in the digital landscape, but didn’t know where to start, or didn’t know how to get to where you wanted to, to have the best chance possible of reaching your summit with the help of guides. Specifically, guides who’ve already walked the path you are about to walk.

Here to walk the path with you

So, If you’re interested in creating a business aligned to your purpose, consider the Time, Cost and Experience paradigm, and let that inform you how much you can do yourself from your own reserves, and how much external investment you need.

And, if you’d like the benefit of starting your digital journey with a proven map and a guide, then why not try our complimentary video training series that people all around the world are using to start and grow profitable online businesses aligned to their purpose.

Marketing Mastery

Marketing Mastery

Marketing Mastery

Ready to get more customers and sales for your business?
Well you’re in the right place.

Here’s a fact for you:
MOST businesses fail

60% + in the first five years
91% by the years five to year nine
97% won’t make it past ten years

Though these statistics are scary, it’s important to focus on the fact that 3 out of 100 people will make it past that 10-year milestone and reach a level of true sustainability and security that allows them to take care of themselves and their families for life.

And the good news is, you absolutely can be one of the 3 businesses out of 100, if you get the RIGHT education and learn the RIGHT skills.

When you speak with the owners of failed businesses and ask them why theirs didn’t make it, you’ll nearly always get the same answer:

“I didn’t have enough customers.”

This is another way of saying, “I didn’t know how to GET more customers.”

That’s why learning the fundamental skills and gaining the support and guidance you need is crucial to making your business secure and sustainable, by attracting the RIGHT customers.

And that’s what marketing is: The “attracting of customers” (and therefore sales) for your business.

Yes, marketing as a definition can mean a lot of things, but its CORE objective is to grow your customer base and increase your sales for your business.

This means that:

Marketing Is The #1 Money Maker In Your Business

There are countless components that make a business successful, but marketing is one of the (if not the ONLY) parts that generates customers and sales, and therefore: money.

By investing in yourself, your training, and your education, you’ll gain the confidence in going forward with your marketing, and doing it properly and as a result, you’ll increase your profitability. There’s nothing more to it. Getting the right knowledge, support, and guidance in learning effective marketing is the single most profitable investment you can make in your business.

It’s that simple…

If you don’t know marketing and you don’t know how to get customers, then you don’t have security or stability in your business.

Alternatively, if you DO know marketing and you DO have the ability to proactively go out, find, convert, and sell to customers, you have the ability to cultivate the success, power, and influence that you want in your business.

And that’s why we are excited to introduce you to…

Where you’ll gain all the marketing mindsets, strategies, tactics, and certification to grow your customer base and increase your sales.

The Digital Experts Academy (DEA) Marketing Mastery Certification is a 2-year roadmap that can be completed sooner depending on how quickly you complete the following requirements.

Meet Your Mentors

Greg and Fiona Scott
We’re excited to have Greg and Fiona on board as founding members of DEA, having joined in November 2010. With Project Management and Accountancy backgrounds they have translated those skills into building several successful digital businesses. What they realized is that people starting an online business needed honest, expert guidance. This inspired them to write their best-selling book, Living a Laptop Lifestyle, which is available on Amazon.

Stuart selected Greg and Fiona to mentor his inner circle students, and they’ve been heavily involved in delivering DEA training calls. They’re thrilled to deepen that contribution by sharing their experience in your One-on-One Marketing Mastery mentoring calls, and their aim is to help you build an outstanding digital business.

If you’re looking to refine your message to the market, or need support with YouTube, Facebook, and/or Bing ads, Greg & Fiona can offer you specialized guidance.

Amy Taylor
Amy Taylor joined the SFM/DEA in 2013 after a wake-up call of losing a family member left her wanting to live an “above average” life while she was young enough to enjoy it!

Building a successful affiliate business enabled Amy to leave her career in Corporate Travel Sales and pursue life as a “Digital Nomad” within 18 months. Along the way, she also used the knowledge and experience gained to consult with business owners, helping them grow and connect with their audience online.

Amy’s strength is in helping you discover your unique and authentic marketing message – whatever your business may be. Her paid advertising experience lies mostly within Facebook and Google/YouTube.
