About Us

Based on the edge of the English Lake District, Stephen and Ruth are a husband and wife team who desired to create businesses which educated, equipped, and enabled others based on their values of INTEGRITY, COMPASSION and FAMILY WELL-BEING.

Over 2 decades ago, Stephen & Ruth both independently began their involvement in voluntary overseas service. Sometimes a deployment coincided with a civil war or the aftermath of one. Sometimes their visits were to children who’d been abandoned or adults who’d endured human rights abuses, but whatever the setting, and whatever they were able to achieve for others during these visits, they always felt they gained more than they gave through the experience.

Now with a young family of their own to care for, getting back into the field is not so convenient, so they continue to support individuals and organisations who are making a difference among vulnerable people by other means.

Our Story

ruth's story

Ruth is a teacher by profession. Her early experience includes teaching English abroad in Asia.

Having gained her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature, her Master of Arts in English Language and Linguistics, and her Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA), she went into full-time teaching. Primarily, this involved teaching overseas students English as an additional language, preparing them for English examinations which would enable them to go on to do A levels in English, and preparing General Certificate in Secondary Education (GCSE) English students for examinations in their second language.

Her work included being part of pastoral care teams, supervising and looking after students on a girl’s boarding house, and at holiday camps.

She is currently a full-time Mum looking after four children. Since graduating from the Associated Board of Music in Piano, she also enjoys teaching piano lessons part-time.

She has prepared pupils for Associated Board of Music examinations and also entered her pupils into Musical Festivals.

In her spare time, Ruth enjoys reading, trekking in the hills and, as a qualified lifeguard, swimming.

One of her favourite quotes comes from Walt Disney’s Aladdin:

“On a scale of one to ten, you are an eleven!”

She believes we should be the best we can be, always do our best in whatever we do.

stephen's story

Stephen is a chartered scientific and environmental management professional who has gained a wide-ranging appreciation of regulatory requirements, stakeholder engagement and commercial constraints in a world where environmental excellence is increasingly important to successful project delivery.

With over 25 years combined high hazard industry and regulatory experience, he brings operational, tactical and strategic experience to clients.

His approach to work involves the creation of space for real dialogue to allow the trust to develop in the teams he leads and clients he supports. This approach has resulted in numerous commendations.

For a decade he has volunteered as a Science Technology Engineering & Math (STEM) Ambassador to schools by bringing real-world problems for pupils to experience and solve.

As a qualified fitness instructor, he enjoys bodyweight training at home with his four daughters, including being a donkey for donkey rides.

One of his favourite quotes comes from a devotional he read one sunrise whilst serving in Africa as a teenager:

“As we meet and touch each day
The many travellers on life’s way
Let every such brief contact be
An encouraging helpful ministry”

For him, it confirmed his sense that we are all travellers on a journey, and that no matter how brief our contact with another, we can encourage and help someone take their next step on life’s journey through a simple brief word of encouragement.

Logo

Empowering, Digital, Positivity
This logo mirrors the original shield treatment we used for Stephen and Ruth’s personal brand (https://stephenandruth.com/about).

A new ID born from the same DNA, using the brand visual language, creating a digital button – much like a start button on a digital device. This creates the idea that clients are pressing the “start button” on the empowering journey Stephen & Ruth can help them travel.

It’s a simple graphic representation of discovery and enablement; a visual marker to show the activation of positive momentum.

Web Banner

Discovery, Purpose, Enlightening
Stephen & Ruth’s inspirational tagline – “Where discovery and purpose meet” – is given a visual identity in this web banner, where several paths are shown, each with meeting points that create radiant light. The paths represent discovery, while the meeting points signify purpose. The light that this meeting creates demonstrates Stephen & Ruth enlightening people to this point, and the joy their clients receive upon arrival. The lit paths also feature the ID icon, reinforcing our brand throughout. Stephen & Ruth pride themselves on “creating space for real dialog”. This is seen quite literally in the aspirational sky scene that acts as the backdrop for the banner. Their banner is positioned to show the integrity and compassion they themselves bring – while helping Stephen & Ruth to establish a consistent and recognisable brand image.

Social Media

As discussed in the creation of the YouTube banner designed in Stephen & Ruth’s name (https://stephenandruth.com/about), this asset needs to be produced in a different size and shape to the web banner. This can often mean rearranging or losing certain elements. But again, we’ve managed to maintain brand consistency and keep all the existing elements of the web banner, so Digi Life Enabled will surely get noticed by YouTube’s millions of viewers. Consistent visual language across all brand touch points.
Stillness in Chaos, by Alex Eastman

We all have core values, but for many of us they stay there, at our core, buried in the deepest realm of self. But here’s the deal, at Digi Life Enabled, we believe that those values deserve to live out in the open. It is our values that we present to the world, so shouldn’t we look at them, evaluate them, and ultimately live by them with undivided awareness?

We think so.

So our mission along with Alex is to help you WAKE UP to your potential, to help you discover how to nurture your values so that they serve YOU and others.

Hope you enjoy the short message from Alex.
